As soon as Rev.Fr.M.G.Mathew took over as the new Principal of Mar Ivanios College, he created an Empowerment Fund for aiding financially backward students to buy books and other study material. The corpus fund for this was collected with contributions from teachers and other well wishers. Rs. 10,000 was the initial personal contribution of the Principal. Any one can contribute to this fund through cheques or DD drawn in favour of The Principal, Empowerment Fund, Mar Ivanios College.

On the very next day of the successful launch of the Chandrayan I, the team of scientists from ISRO involved in the launch were honoured and felicitated by the Mar Ivanios Community.

Dr. Shashi Tharoor, eminent writer and economist inaugurated the Diamond Jubilee celebrations of the Department of English on 28 Nov 2008. He also released the manuscript magazine of the Dept. ‘IMAGINE’ .

Department of Economics which also celebrates its Diamond Jubilee this year released their Annual Economics Journal ‘SPECTRUM’ by handing over a copy to Dr. Tharoor.

Mar Ivanios College has been selected by ISRO for conducting the practical classes for their Indian Institute of Space Technology (IIST)

Rev.Fr.Mathew Manakarakavil assumed office as the Principal of Mar Ivanios College on 1 June 2007.

Helina Jolly & Priya Thomas got first and second rank in the B.Sc. Zoology University Examination.

11 Teachers have retired from service.

Rev.Dr.Samuel Kattukallil retired from service as the Principal of Mar Ivanios College on 31 May 2007. He has been appointed as the new Vicar General of the Archiepiscopal Malankara Catholic Church.


Looking for a Research Project Fellow

  • For a UGC sponsored major research project on 'Socio-Economic Implication of illY/AIDS', Mar Ivanios College, Trivandrum is looking for an energetic, rescarch fellow. The period of thc project is 3 years from July 1, 2006. A monthly salary of Rs.6, 000/- (consolidated) will be paid. Out of pocket expenditure during fieldwork will also be provided. The candidate must be M.AJ M.Phil in Economics with good research aptiLude. The candidate can pursue Ph.D in Economics of Kerala University under the Principal Investigator.   • The College Magazine for the academic year 2004-05 has been released.
  •  A Workshop on Value Based Education was held on 6 December 2005. It was jointly organized by Mar Ivanios College & the Malankara Major Seminary under the sponsorship of UGC. 
  • In connection with the recording of the Students Only programme the world famous Play back singers Padmashree Dr.K.J. Yesudas and Smt. K.S. Chithra along with several budding singers and reknowned music directors visited the college
  • The second terminal examination will commence on 14 December 2005. The results will be published in the second week of January 2006.
  •  The College closes for X-mas vacation on 22 December 2005. The College Community celebrated the advent of Christ on 13 December 2005. His Excellency Rt.Rev.Dr.Joseph Mar Thomas gave the X-mas message
  • The Patron of the College has been installed as the Major Archbishop of the Malankara Major Archiepiscopal Church Moran Mor Cyril Baselios Catholicos.
  • The College has been Re-assessed and Re-accredited with ‘A’ Grade by the national assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC).Mar Ivanios College is one among the 20 institutions at the National level and the first one at the State level and the University level to receive the Re-accreditation.
  • CPE (College with Potential for Excellence) Status has been conferred on the College by the UGC  Mar Ivanios College is one among the six at the State level and 47 Colleges at the National level to receive this honour.
  • The first terminal examination was held in the College from 2-9-2005 to 9-9-2005. The college closed for the Onam holidays on 9-9-2005.
  • Instrument Maintenance Facility has been set up.
  • The entire College Campus is linked by the Wireless LAN facility.
