Projects

The department is presently involved in a project associated with the centre for Earth sciences and the department of Tourism, Kerala for a survey on International Tourists visiting Varkala. The department has also done feasibility studies for local community participation in Ecotourism at Kallar and also the implementation of Tourist Train at Kollam - Thenkasi Rail route which has been widely appreciated by the Association of Transport and Tour operators. Several Industry based projects are also being undertaken by the Department such as effectiveness of customer service in Gulf Air, International Market preferences for Kovalam Hotels Pvt.Ltd.etc. The department has also submitted projects on Destination development to the District Tourism Promotion Council.

Accreditations 

The Department of Tourism studies is in the process of accreditation from the Indian Association of Tours Operators (IATO). The department has been accredited by Association of Transport and Tour Operators, India (ATTOI).
Training and Placement 

 A two month Intensive Industry Training Programme is a part of the Course Curriculam, Every year campus placement is arranged for the final semester students, In 2004, the placement was 100%.
